The History of MOTOREX

1917 Foundation of the firm of Fritz Jentzer, household chemical products, Bützberg. Manufacture of leather and floor care preparations under the brand name REX.

1920 The firm is joined by Arnold Bucher (born 1896) and its name is changed to Jentzer und Bucher, Bützberg.
1 employee.

1938 Foundation of Bucher & Cie. AG, Bützberg. The company moves from Bützberg to Langenthal to occupy the company's first building in the present industrial zone.
Own rail siding.

1944 Firm joined by Edy Bucher (born 1924) and in 1945 by Claudine Bucher (born 1923).

1947 Under the name MOTOREX derived from the brand REX, top-quality lubricants and cleaning products are developed, produced and marketed. The firm initially sells roughly 1 drum per day.

1953 The first prominent advertising for MOTOREX appears in newspapers and magazines. Total sales now exceed 200 tons.

1965 The production and sale of REX shoe and floor care products is discontinued.
Sales of motor and gearbox oils now amount to around 1200 tons.

1968 Death of Arnold Bucher, the company's founder. It is to his initiative and far-sightedness that the firm owes its development. Start of an explosive expansion of sales.

1969 Planning of a new plant with storage tanks on the site of the former gasworks. Monique Bucher (born 1948) joins the firm.

1972 On 31 March, phase 1 of the plant expansion and updating project is completed. The MOTOREX production facilities are now considered the most modern in the industry, and regularly serve as a showpiece.

1974 Expansion of the storage tank and pump house. 52 employees. Helen Bucher (born 1953) joins the company. With 5,300,000 litres, MOTOREX now has the biggest storage tank capacity in Switzerland.

1978 A further new building is planned. The first aerosol can filling plant goes on stream. Peter Regenass (born 1946) joins the firm.

1981 Helen Bucher, Monique Regenass-Bucher and Peter Regenass are appointed as new members of the board of directors. The first issue of the company magazine "MOTOREX-Revue" is sent to customers.

1987 Introduction of MC motor oils, which lead the field in both technology and quality. First MOTOREX TV commercial.

1990 MOTOREX moves into the new and enlarged buildings.
75th birthday celebrations. BUCHER AG MOTOREX is awarded quality certification under ISO 9001.

1992 MOTOREX moves into the new and enlarged buildings.

1996 Foundation of BUCHER-MOTOREX HOLDING AG. Stronger presence on the world market.

1997 Publication of the 50th MOTOREX Revue. Jubilees: 80 years of Bucher AG and 50 years of the MOTOREX brand.

1998 MOTOREX receives the GFM marketing prize for the marketing scenario "MOTOREX Product Lines". 185 employees. The president of the board of directors, Mrs. Helen Bucher Voegeli, is named Businesswoman of the Year and awarded the "Prix Veuve Clicquot".

2000 New building for expansion of production facilities. Untimely death of Mrs. Helen Bucher. 200 employees.

2000 MOTOREX receives the SWISS STAR 2000 and EURO STAR 2000 awards for the MOTOREX 1-litre engine oil bottle with integrated filler neck.

2001 It may have begun well, but it ended even better with the WORLD STAR 2001 award for the MOTOREX 1-litre engine oil bottle with integrated filler neck

2001 Mr. Peter Regenass-Bucher assumes new post as VR President

2001 Founding of subsidiaries in Germany and the USA. Initial start-up of Fass-Lift and MOTOREX Kreisel

2002 Ms. Monique Regenass-Bucher assumes overall operational responsibilities for the Group of companies.
