Championships – Round 7 TWO MORE NSW ENDURO CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR BALLARD’S OFF ROAD TROPHY CABINET The fifth and final round of the 2005 NSW Enduro Championships, which doubled as round 7 of the NSW Off Road Championship was run at Holbrook on May 8th but due to timing errors on the day, final results have just been released with some great results for the Ballard’s Yamaha Motorex Racing Team. Damian Smith was forced to miss the Holbrook event due to a wrist injury he sustained at home but due to his domination of the previous rounds he still won the E1 class sate championship. Backing Smith up in the E1 class was WR250f mounted Jason Cater who finished 3rd at Holbrook which gave him 4th in the championship. Despite being almost 15 years younger than Cater, young Morgan Fitzgerald rode the wheels of his YZ125 against a sea of 250 fourstrokes to finnish 4th at Holbrook and 3rd in the championship. The Womans Class was an all Ballard’s affair with Alison Parker (WR250F) proving way to good for her competition winning every round for the Woman’s State Championship. Parker was suitably backed up at each event by first time enduro competitor Melissa McKay who took 2nd place on her YZ125. Geoff Ballard was in the hot seat to win the Expert Over 35’s Class Championship but it wasn’t to be as he ran out fuel at Holbrook which resulted in a DNF and dropped him to 2nd in the championship. E2 class riders Ryan Smart and Jarrod Bewley had good consistant results in the toughest class with Smart getting 4th in class at Holbrook and 4th for the championship and Bewley finished 10th at Holbrook for 8th in the championship. The next report will follow shortly which will be from rounds 3 & 4 of the Australian Off Road Series at Gilgandra on May 21 & 22. |
