BRILLIANT RESULTS AT BATHURST

Rounds 8 and 9 of the NSW Off Road Championships proved to be a great event for the Ballard’s Yamaha Motorex Racing Team, highlighted by the convincing double outright win from Damian Smith.

Smith was the man to beat all weekend in the tight, slippery conditions at Wattle Flat near Bathurst. On Saturday Smith beat home local favorite Honda’s Ben Grabham by 5 seconds. On Sunday Smith went even faster, winning by a massive 35 seconds from Husqvarna’s AJ Roberts, with another 30 seconds back to Grabham. It’s seems as though Damian has hit peak form at the right moment, with only 3 weeks to the Australian Four Day Enduro Championships.

Jason Cater also had his best ride of the year coming home second in the E1 class on both days behind team-mate Smith which also gave him brilliant outright results of 4th on Saturday and 5th on Sunday.

Morgan Fitzgerald was hot on the heels of his older teammates with class results of 4th and 6th over the two days, which gave him outright results of 9th and 12th. The fourth E1 class rider Ryan Smart found the wet slippery conditions difficult and finished with class results of 6th and 7th for each day.

Geoff Ballard was also on the gas easily winning both days of the Over 35’s Experts class, which also placed him 4th outright Expert for both days.

Alison Parker is unstoppable. She continued her clean sweep of the Woman’s class with another double class win.

E2 class rider Jarrod Bewley also had his best results of the year pushing his WR450F to an impressive 2nd in class on Saturday and 5th outright. He finished 7th in class on Sunday.

Next event for the Ballard’s Yamaha Motorex Racing Team is rounds 7 and 8 of the Yamaha Australian Off Road Series, which moves north to Queensland on July 9th and 10th.
